Decking
We believe that used in the right position for the right reasons decks can be practical, exciting and an essential part of a garden scheme. The skill is knowing when to use decking, what materials to use and what style to construct in.
All our decks are individually designed to suit the needs of each site and then either constructed in our work shop or on site. All the timber is pressure treated prior to installation and can be finished using oil, stain or left to weather naturally.
At Sandstone we work with air dried Oak, Green Oak, (for a rustic finish,) traditional softwood and forest managed hardwoods such as Iroko.
A raised deck can be particularly useful on a sloping site, (see pic 1). Spanning the slope allows the whole space to be more usable and simple balustrading around the decking will not only define the space but also provide a safe edge.
When covered by an arbour or pergola, a free standing deck can provide a dry dining/seating area in a totally different part of your garden, (see pic 3).
When the decking is recessed to the same level as the surrounding paving a virtually seamless transition from inside to outside space can be made, (see pic 4).
