About Sandstone

Sandstone was born out of Allister Dempster's desire to fulfil his dream of creating and nurturing beautiful outdoor spaces. Many visits to Great Dixter when young had fuelled this interest and after turning his back on the T.V. and film business, Ali attended Hadlow College, setting up Sandstone Garden Design and Landscaping in 1998.

Ali appreciates that his previous career, designing and creating sets in the T.V. and film industry, was a marvellous grounding for the interpretive, creative and yet practical design skills needed when turning often vague dreams and aspirations into reality.

Eleven years and numerous wheel barrows later, imagination, flair, and creativity alongside good communication skills and a positive attitude are among the qualities reflected in Sandstone's highly committed team; the reason that Sandstone enjoys its great reputation.

With everyone's heightened awareness of climate change we are also pleased to be designing and producing gardens and buildings that allow us to contribute, in a small way, to the conservation and sustainability the of world's limited resources.
